Vince Foti
Vince Foti has been a partner at Gordon B. Roberts since 1990, but his roots in Oneonta go back much further.
Vince grew up in Oneonta, attended Riverside Elementary, Oneonta Junior High, and graduated from Oneonta High School in 1978. He went on to college, getting his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1982 and MBA from Syracuse University in 1984.
He started his career as a financial analyst for IBM Corp. in Poughkeepsie, where he learned the importance of giving back to the community and got involved with the United Way.
“At IBM, you are surrounded by achievers at every level who are generous with their time and money,” Vince said. “You come to understand the obligation that comes with the privilege of having a good job with a great company.”
Vince returned to Oneonta in June 1990, married Donna Lambros, bought a house and started selling insurance for Gordon B. Roberts Agency, Inc.
He started volunteering for the United Way in Otsego County in 1991, chaired the annual campaign for three of the next six years, and made a lot of presentations to promote employee fund-raising campaigns. He joined its board of directors in 1996, and was president of the board in 2001.
He continues his community involvement in a number of ways, including coaching basketball and soccer and working with the City of Oneonta Mayor’s Cup Soccer Tournament.
“Moving back to Oneonta has worked out far better than I ever imagined,” he said.
